Canada Summer Jobs 2018

I urge all public, private and not-for-profit employers to submit their applications to hire students through the 2018 Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJ) before the February 2nd deadline.

NFP groups are eligible for federal funding for up to 100% of BC’s minimum hourly wage, plus funding for workplace deductions for EI, CPP, and holiday pay.

Eligible public and private sector employers will receive funding for 50% of the provincial minimum wage but must cover the costs for workplace deductions.

The CSJ Program benefits students, employers and communities alike.  Not only are students learning new skills and gaining quality workplace experience, they are also earning a fulltime salary to help offset education costs.  In addition the federal government recognizes local priorities, giving me the opportunity to fund projects that provide valuable services to Kootenay-Columbia communities.

Our businesses and organizations can afford the extra seasonal help they need.  2018 is the last year of addition federal funding (an extra $250,000 for our region) which presents an additional opportunity for all to benefit.
