IN THE MEDIA: Kootenay--Columbia MP to host Small Business Forum in Fernie Wednesday

The MP for Kootenay--Columbia wants small business to take centre stage in Fernie Wednesday night.

Wayne Stetski is organizing a series of forums featuring representatives from all levels of government, giving business owners the opportunity to speak about issues they face.

Stetski feels there's more the federal government can do to support entrepreneurs, including reducing taxes.

"A number of parties, including the NDP and the Liberals, campaigned on reducing small business taxes from 11 percent to 9 percent," Stetski says. "That hasn't happened so far under the Liberal government, so we'll hopefully see that sometime in the future."

Fernie Mayor Mary Giuliano and Powell River--Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons will take part in Wednesday's discussion.

The forum gets started at 5:30pm at the Fernie Seniors Hall.
